Young Arbitrators Initiative
The ITA Young Arbitrators Initiative was established in 2007 to expand ITA’s activities for young lawyers. The Young Arbitrators Initiative acts as an umbrella under which other young arbitrator organizations may participate in ITA events. In recent years, the Young Arbitrators Initiative has organized Roundtables for young lawyers at the ITA’s annual meetings in the United States and Latin America with the co-sponsorship of the ICC Young Arbitrator Forum, the ICDR Young & International, the LCIA Young International Arbitrators Group and others. Roundtables have been held in Bogotá, Dallas, Mexico City, Panama City and São Paulo.
In June 2011, the ITA Advisory Board created the Young Arbitrators Initiative Committee. Membership in the Young Arbitrators Initiative Committee is open to all Advisory Board members who are under the age of 40. The Committee’s members are charged with continuing the Initiative’s tradition of acting as an umbrella organization for other young arbitrator groups, and with organizing substantive and networking events of benefit to young lawyers who wish to develop a career in international arbitration.
The Committee is currently organizing an inaugural Winter Roundtable in San Francisco on February 2, a Young Lawyers Breakfast preceding the 9th Annual ITA-ASIL Conference in Washington, D.C. on March 28, the 5th Annual Americas Roundtable in Santiago on April 25, and the 7th Annual Dallas Roundtable on June 20, 2012.
